Apparently, my alma mater has that new piano smell. Reports one inside source in the secondary piano department:

Never thought about the “new piano smell” before – but it’s true – it smells delicious! My graduate assistants’ private teaching studios now contain 4 new Steinways – they all arrived sealed up in these silver plastic bags (freshness sealed?) so you get a good whiff of new piano smell immediately. New car smell has nothing on this!
